In addition to our newly named partners, several individuals have achieved significant new industry and technical certifications, recognition and accolades. With our expertise constantly growing, EKS&H can help you with a continuously expanding set of services. Some of these personal developments include:

Recognition

Chris Otto, CPA, CFE, audit partner and lead in the EKS&H Fort Collins office, has become a Certified Human Capital Coach (CHCC). This training enables him to better assist with management and individual coaching, strategic goal setting, alignment of talent with organizational goals and tapping into the knowledge and creativity existing in client organizations.

Eric Stutz, CPA, tax partner; Sarah Montgomery, CPA, audit senior; and Mark Gilmore, CPA, audit manager at EKS&H have each earned the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation. This designation represents a significant commitment to excellence in turning financial opportunities in the construction industry into bottom-line results.

Patrick McFarlen, CPA/ABV, ASA, consulting partner at EKS&H, has become a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). This certification uniquely bridges industry practice, investment theory, and ethical and professional standards related to investment analysis and portfolio management.

Dottie Clevenger, senior IT consultant at EKS&H, recently passed the Informatica Administrator Certification Exam and has become a Certified Specialist. This rigorous exam focuses not only on Informatica skills and capabilities but also on an individual’s performance and the outcomes of Informatica product implementations.

The Consulting Group’s Business Intelligence (BI) team has been awarded the IBM Cognos BI Gold Practice Accreditation. To obtain the accreditation, the BI team collectively achieved 19 individual certifications and submitted to IBM a series of customer deployment examples demonstrating the team’s capabilities through validated Cognos implementations.

Promotion to partner

Dan Foote, CPA, CM&AA, has nearly 15 years of public accounting and consulting experience, with a particular focus in mergers and acquisitions, financial modeling and outsourced CFO services. Currently, he is a leader in the Accounting Solutions group at EKS&H, providing small to medium-sized businesses and organizations outsourced accounting and functional financial strategies.

Nathan Gordon, CPA, has almost 15 years of public accounting experience and specializes in financial statement audits for public and private companies, with extensive expertise serving mining and oil and gas clients. He has assisted clients in raising more than $1 billion in capital through initial public offerings, secondary offerings and bought stock offerings in the U.S. and Canada.

Lucky Heggs, CPA, has more than 15 years of public accounting experience with financial audits of public and privately held companies in a wide variety of industries. He is a leader in the International Advisory Group, frequently works with emerging growth companies and offers extensive expertise assisting clients with initial and secondary public offerings. Previously, he spent two years on staff at the PCAOB.

Rankings

Inside Public Accounting (IPA) released its annual ranking of public accounting firms in its August 2014 issue. For the first year, EKS&H was ranked as the fifth largest and showed the fourth-greatest growth rate of firms based in the West Region. The West Region, as identified by IPA, includes 13 states. EKS&H was also ranked the 46th-largest firm nationally.

As published in FORTUNE Magazine, the Great Place to Work® Institute included EKS&H in its top 25 best medium-sized workplaces list for the sixth year in a row. Competing against hundreds of companies across the country, this year the firm was ranked 14th among companies with 251 to 999 employees.

The Leading Edge Alliance (LEA), an EKS&H affiliate network, presented the firm with its Innovative Firm of the Year award, inspired by the cutting-edge innovations and best practices that differentiate LEA members from their competitors. Each of the award areas illustrates LEA’s core belief that continuing success is grounded in being accomplished in all areas of practice development and firm management.
