Message from the CEO

EKS&H_Fall 2014_New CEO Message image_paper snowflakes

As temperatures drop and days get shorter, one thing is certain — winter is here. At EKS&H, this season is always an exciting one, as it is when we announce new partners. (Be sure to check out the “Awards and Advancements” article in this newsletter to learn about our three newest EKS&H partners.)

We believe strongly in promoting from within at EKS&H; in fact, it is one of the primary reasons for our continued focus on growth. While some companies are motivated to expand to achieve ever-increasing revenue targets or to beat some industry competition, our desire to grow is based on the foundation of creating opportunities for others.

For this strategy to work as well as it has for us, we must hire those who are the right cultural fit and then invest heavily in their development. Team members at every level participate in a wide variety of technical and service-based education, both internally and externally. We participate in and present at conferences, seminars and symposiums in virtually every industry in the Rocky Mountains, across the country and around the world. These activities fold deliberately into another of our firm goals: to develop a world-class training and development program. This goal directly impacts our people and our clients, our two most important firm assets.

All of this is not to say that we do not leverage strategic opportunities to bring in individuals with external expertise when appropriate. In just the past two years, we have done so with experts in process improvement, international strategies, health care and, perhaps most notably, business analytics.

The key is finding the right balance between internal talent development and acquisition of external people with the skills and abilities that meet the business and growth needs, beyond audit and tax, of our clients.

For more information about the training and development program at EKS&H and how this helps us become trusted business advisors, please do not hesitate to reach out to any one of us at EKS&H.

Sincerely,

Bob Hottman
