EKS&H winning bidder for Grand Champion Goat at 2014 National Western Stock Show

Of the thousands of animals in competition at the annual National Western Stock Show, 90 of the very best are presented at the Auction of Junior Livestock Champions, held on Jan. 24, 2014. The auction includes ribbon-winning steers, lambs, hogs, and goats raised by children ages 9 to 18 who participate in 4-H and FFA.

EKS&H, a longtime supporter of the National Western Stock Show, was this year’s winning bidder for the Grand Champion Goat. Money raised from this auction supports the Western Stock Show Association and the National Western Scholarship Trust, which provide more than 70 scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $6,000 to undergraduate and graduate students in agriculture and medicine for practice in rural areas. Past scholarships have gone to students studying at schools including Colorado State University, the University of Colorado Medical School, the University of Northern Colorado, and the University of Wyoming, among others.

“We are proud to be supporting the National Western Stock Show and its Scholarship Trust,” says EKS&H Partner Craig Choun. “This organization is a tremendous local resource and provides critical support to young people interested in continuing the farming and ranching tradition in Colorado.”

EKS&H CEO Bob Hottman represented the firm at this year’s event along with Partner Craig Choun, and Counsel Phil Doty.
