Community Commitment | Friends of the Haven

On April 25, nearly 30 EKS&H employees, friends and family joined together for one of our annual EKS&H Days of Service. This year, we again worked with Amp the Cause (formerly Denver Day of Rock) and joined more than 1,000 volunteers assisting more than 50 local nonprofits that need assistance in improving their facilities.

The nonprofit our employees volunteered at this year was Friends of the Haven. FOH is a Denver-based organization designed exclusively to help women struggling with substance abuse and mental health disorders develop healthy bonds with their children.

According to the organization: FOH provides The Haven, and the Baby Haven, with resources for projects designed to further the abilities of women from across Colorado who are in treatment at the Haven, as they work to break the cycle of substance use disorders. Doing so will allow these women to go on to provide and maintain long-term, safe, stable, and drug-free environments for themselves and their children. FOH works cooperatively with the community to provide funding and volunteers for any and all activities supporting these outcomes. Such activities might range from support for operational needs that do not have other sources of support to providing support for psychological, developmental, educational and/or vocational services, to offering scholarships to women in need, as well as accepting in-kind donations that further support recovery. Upon occasion and when appropriate, FOH considers funding for research that could lead to the enhancement of programmatic or behavioral outcomes.
