Client Spotlight | Odell Brewing Company

Odell Brewing Company

EKS&H is pleased to have the opportunity to serve Odell Brewing Co., which it has been doing for the past 10 years. The firm provides audit, tax, and consulting services and helped Odell Brewing implement an employee stock ownership program (ESOP) by offering specific knowledge of the process as well as needed structure, advice, and accounting.

Upon launching in 1989, the brewery’s first commercial release was Golden Ale, followed by 90 Shilling, which remains its top selling brew. Currently the company is the 27th largest craft brewery in the country, distributing to 14 states as well as locations within the U.K. While Odell Brewing crafts a variety of beers, its roots are built on British styles.

Innovation, creativity, balance, and consistency are all keys to the quality of the brewery’s products as well as to the quality of the company itself. Its managed growth strategy has fostered a culture of family and collaboration, including formation of the ESOP.

Additionally, Odell Brewing is committed to its community and the environment. The company seeks to conserve natural resources and contributes to charitable programs in its serving area. Primary areas of interest for donations include at-risk children, single-parent families, the elderly, the environment, and education.

Chris Otto, EKS&H audit partner and Fort Collins lead partner, has worked closely with Odell Brewing over the years. “Odell Brewing Co. is a premier company that really represents northern Colorado,” he said. “Locals and visitors seek out the brewery’s tasting room for its relaxing environment. They have a great management team and do a lot to support the local community. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with them and to bring them tax and other ideas to help make the company more profitable. They love watching people enjoy their beer, and we love watching companies achieve success, so it’s a win-win.”
