Community Commitment | Wish for Wheels

EKS&H is a proud partner of Wish for Wheels, a 501(c)(3) local nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of low-income children through the gift of a new bicycle. In partnership with Wish for Wheels, more than 400 EKS&H employees built 65 bikes for local elementary children during the June 2015 semi-annual employee meeting.

Founded in 2004, Wish for Wheels has developed strong relationships with bike and helmet manufacturers and a solid donor and volunteer base, partnering with companies such as Toyota, Panera Bread and American Express. After its first bike giveaway, Wish for Wheels realized the health and happiness a new bike brings to a child’s life.

Following the bike build day on June 23, 2015, several EKS&H employees and Wish for Wheels volunteers helped fit more than 40 children with new bikes and helmets at the Sun Valley Youth Center. A bike is more than a mode of transportation; it symbolizes freedom, responsibility and a healthy lifestyle.

“This was a great way to bring our employees together,” says EKS&H Partner Lori Nelson. “It’s a tangible way for EKS&H to give back to the community.”

Wish for Wheels is always looking for new partners and volunteers. Its bike builds and giveaways provide team building and corporate citizenship, and they allow volunteers to experience the impact of changing childrens’ lives. The organization has given away more than 10,000 new bikes and helmets to date, and it hopes that every child will one day have a new bicycle.
